It’s Not Fair! How Morality Shows Evidence of a Creator
All of us have said or thought about something that has happened to us or to someone else that “it’s just not fair”. Although the specific ideas of what is fair varies from culture to culture, the idea of fairness is shared by all humans. Yet if evolutionism were actually true, this shouldn’t be the case. If we are just smart hairless apes why should the concept of fairness of any kind exist at all? All that should matter is survival and there have been numerous times in human history when fairness has gotten in the way of survival.
All of those things that make us uniquely human, morality, creativity and logic to name just three are all traits that are not automatically beneficial to survival and yet we treasure them nonetheless. Our very human traits are things that point not just to our having been created, but that we were created in the image of God. We can see in so much of human behavior a flawed reflection of God’s traits.
One of the things that evolutionists often use against Creationists is that with all of the cruelty in nature how can God be a loving God. In fact Sir David Attenborough when asked why he rejected Creation said:
“When Creationists talk about God creating every individual species as a separate act, they always instance hummingbirds, or orchids, sunflowers and beautiful things.
But I tend to think instead of a parasitic worm that is boring through the eye of a boy sitting on the bank of a river in West Africa, that’s going to make him blind.
And ‘Are you telling me that the God you believe in, who you also say is an all-merciful God, who cares for each one of us individually, are you saying that God created this worm that can live in no other way than in an innocent child’s eyeball? Because that doesn’t seem to me to coincide with a God who’s full of mercy.’”
All the while that Attenborough was criticizing both Creationists and God he actually was making it abundantly clear that he believed the circumstance he described wasn’t fair! But if evolutionism were true, why should the concept of fairness even enter into it?
The very concept of fairness is something that separates us from the animals and is one aspect of humans having been created in the image of God.
